Sorry about that. Looks like I really lucked out and got the last one, or only one, from Tom.

Mike I talked to Tom at then and now He could not help us but he suggested a gasket washer on the top of the center nut that holds down the cap of the canister and I used a O ring and it worked but I am still looking for a new canister thank you Mike yours truly Jim Clark

I have an oil filter cannister, that is bolted to the engine block and uses replaceable throw-away filter elements inside, in both my 1931 Buick and 1936 Plymouth. Cannisters, both original and reproduction, are available, and new disposable filters to fit them as well. I get the disposable filters for my Buick and Plymouth from NAPA.

Carla do you have a picture of that filter I am curious to see what it looks like I am not sure if I seen that before thank you Jim Clark

There are two basic types of housings that take replaceable elements. The more common one uses a paper media the other (heavy duty one) looks like a tightly wound ball of string. The one you need depends on your housing. Cross reference information for modern (at your local auto supply store) replacements can be found on my web site at at http://www.ply33.com/Parts/group10#10-26-08

Are you referring to the type in which the entire canister assembly was replaced to change the filter?

If so, I've no idea as to where those might be available.

Do you mean the common later type of oil filter canister which was bolted to the engine, and used replaceable filter elements?

If so, I have.....or should still have, at least......a few spares, and you'd be welcome to one of them.

(I'm guilty of a 'bad attitude' about bye-pass filters......I simply don't run them, and balance out the cost of the filter element replacement by changing oil two or three times as frequent;y as commonly recommended)
