Air Cleaner Bracket on '41

Don, You should consider a reinforcement bracket- vibration could work cracks even in the carburetor housing!

On my 40 Ply P-9, I have what I thought to be an original air cleaner but it has no attachment hole for a bracket. I purchased a bracket a few years ago when I started the restoration, thinking I would need it. I'm now at this point and confused.

Thanks for your help. I think someone lost/ broke the tapped center head bolt and put on a longer air cleaner bracket that would reach the next tapped head bolt (the one that holds the throttle linkage) and used a standard head bolt in the center position. Maybe the bracket was closer at hand then a tapped head bolt?

In any case, I have found the correct bracket and will once again use the center head bolt (I found a new tapped one) as the anchor point.

 the air cleaner brace mounts to the centre head bolt as shown but the brace in your picture looks too long. Rather than bend it, redrill the upper end, which was a slot, as I recall.

Is the air cleaner bracket on a '41 supposed to attach to the center headbolt (#1)? If so, do I need to bend the bracket? Do I have the correct bracket?
