Can someone help me identify this hubcap? ('33?,'34?)

FYI: The hub caps can be restored by first removing the skin from the cap that snaps onto the wheel. After removing the skin, send both parts to the chrome plater. If you choose, you could send the hub caps unassembled to the chrome plater and they will remove the skin and do all of the work necessary.

It was very expensive for a '34 at just under $300 US per cap. The cost reflects the time involved and the plating. The quality is impeccable. The chrome shop is:

I would recommend giving them a call to discuss your job, or checking with another plater of your choosing. I hope this helps

There is a business here in New Zealand that re-skins hubcaps with perfect replicas of the originals. I could find the contact details and post them here if you are interested.
From memory they come in at about $NZ 150 each. Todays exchange rate would make that $US 100 each.

Yes: we'd all like to know who does hubcap skin restoration or redo; the original skins on my '36 ply. were brass mounted over steel cores; the best we could do was have new covers metal spun in stainless steel , then polished and crimped over the cores. They couldn't reproduce the logos/too costly. Perhaps you could send them to a metal spinner in your area and see what they could do.

I understand now. I've bought a least seven of those '34 artillery wheel hub caps, trying to get a good set. Some are better than others, but they've all needed work. We ended up sending the best of the lot out to have the skins removed, restored and replaced. They came back very nice. As for '35, I don't have any, but the expertise you need to find the correct hub caps is available here.

The story is, twice I bought hubcaps that were listed as fitting a '35 Plymouth and both times I received hubcaps that were just like the picture shown. They have a 7 1/2" outer edge and a 6 1/2" inner ring. The picture that I showed was just one I copied from another ebay listing. Mine looks basically the same and I was just too lazy to go take another picture when these pictures were available.

When someone posted that they might be interested in buying one, I wanted them to know that what they saw, though similar, was not a picture of either of the hubcaps that I posses.

The main thing is, thanks to you guys, I know what I have is for a '34 Plymouth artillery wheel. If I decide to sell either one or both of them, I will be able to give a proper description.

I'm a little confused here. If you have two and the picture is neither of them, then exactly what do you want identified? From the tape measure, it looks like the hub cap pictured would fit an opening of 6 1/2 inches, making it the '34 artillery wheel and not the wire wheel?

Looks like 34 with the wire wheel. The hubcap opening into the wheel is 6" for these caps. The artillery wheel hubcap, which looks the same, has a 6 1/2" opening.

Looks lika a 34 wire wheel cap. If it is for sale, I know someone who needs one for his 34 Standard Plymouth. dp

Not 33 or earlier. Looks like 34 but there might be some different diameters based on wheel options. I am sure that Jim Benjaminson will know for sure.
