I mailed a letter to Saltsman on Saturday and sent him a copy of the postings and a copy of the 1981 Cars & Parts story.  If you send me your e-mail, I will send a copy of the C&P article, too.

Thanks for the great replies and the quote from Bob Saltsman. I guess I could mail copies of what pictures I have to him unless he has an email address? Now in the article from 1941http://mechanicalhistory.com/node/97 they mention the assembly line and one of the pictures has mini cars and people.? Yesterday I noticed on the side of the big trucks are the words "Direct From New York's World's Fair". That was in 1939 into 1940. Interesting. I figure this fair was the continuation of Plymouth's presentation and maybe the long trailer a simular one?

I had replied via Mark O. to you earlier on this subject - but to add to the info here - I have seen photos of a traveling exhibit Plymouth had.  It was a long trailer with a miniature assembly line of the Lynch Road plant.  The photos I have seen (1940 coupe pulling the trailer) only showed the car and trailer - no other support vehicles or trucks, etc.

In a recent WPC News magazine (Nov 2007) was a letter from a gentleman that I will quote here:

"Before WW2 Chrysler Corporation Plymouth Division had an exhibit called "The Talking Plymouth".  This was put on to introduce the 1942 Plymouth automobiles.  My dad who was District Manager for Plymouth Division out of Evansville, Indiana put on these shows.  They would go to each small town and put up a large tent and advertise "The Talking Plymouth", to get people to come out and see the new cars.  A smaller scale than GM's Parade of Progress.  I do not have any information other than memory of this event.  Do any of the WPC Club members have photos or information on this subject?  Send any information to me at: Bob Saltsman, 2905 Reeds Lake Blvd E., Grand Rapids, MI 49506"

This sounds like the same event you have posted except there is no mention of the assembly line trailer.  Perhaps it had been replaced by the Motor Fair???    I'd also be interested in any other information.  I do know the traveling assembly plant display was done for several years....I'll keep looking and see if I can find the photo of it.  A one page story on it appeared in Cars & Parts many years ago.

Today I was adding content on my site I'm starting.? From a July 1941 Popular Mechanic was an article about the Plymouth Motor Fair?1941.[/b] I have searched the internet for more information about this and could not access any.? Has anyone any info or souvenirs from that traveling fair? In the article it states "Eight mammoth trailers house the Plymouth exposition. In one of them is a complete movie projection booth for three-dimensional pictures in technicolor. Others transport the "big tops" and canvas crews, a "talking Plymouth" and other paraphernalia."
