Six volt timing light

Like was said before, I hook mine up to a portable 12 volt battery, and then hook the 3rd wire to the spark plug on the 6 volt car. Works great

I think most timing lights would work. It doesn't matter if it is positive or negative ground. Just hook it up black to negative and red to positive. If the light is not bright enough, hook it up to a 12V battery or charger.

Samo, I just used my timing light with the six volt system but hooked it up pos. to pos which is to say opposite on the battery to compensate for the pos. ground of my '41 Coupe. Hope that helps. Didn't seem to hurt the light at all as it still works for all other applications.

any particular reason you changed your Plymouth from positve ground to negative ground..just curious...

l just used my "regular" (what ever that might be) timing light on
my Plymouth.  The light was bright enough to see the pointer.  Seems
like l looked on the box and there was no voltage specified, like 6 volt, 12 volt, etc.

I am the proud owner of a 1948 Plymouth P15. After many years of service my old timing light has quit working. Does any one know of a  new timing lite currently being sold that will work with the six volt negative ground system of a 1948 Plymouth.
