gillette,

The hubcap in your pix looks exactly like the ones I have, including the 6" measurement! You killed two birds with one hubcap!--UN-muddied the waters and provided a way around my problem sending pictures. I agree, the hubcap in your pix also looks just like my P2 caps (16" wheels), but the diameter is different (7" instead of 6" on the P2 caps).

Now, if we can determine what Plymouths they fit . . .

Thanks again,

Fr Mike

Fr. Mike, I had a chance to dig out a single hubcap that came on my car. It is different from the others, but does fit the wire wheel opening of both my 17" wheels and my 16" wheels. It looks very similar to the caps I remember on my P-2 a hundred years ago, but again, wire wheel style opening. It looks just like the one JimCno posted below. Here are a couple more pictures. Hope this helps muddy the waters. :D GA
I remember the second thing to go is the memory. . . what was the first?

Ooops, I had the same picture twice. I changed the post so you can see the front and back of the hubcap that I have.

What I do to post pictures here is upload them to photobucket.com (no cost) and then use the direct link button.

Hi JimCno!

Thanks for replying and for the photos. I'm still working on sending pictures of a type that the Forum can accept.

Hi gillette!

My hubcaps are definitely not the wire wheels type shown in your pictures.  Thanks for your courtesy in replying to my stated problem.

My Plymouth experience is limited. That said, I have found that the measurement for hubcaps on the wire wheel for the 17" (my '33 PC, maybe others,) and the 16" (adjustable spoke wires, '34?) hubcap opening is actually about 1/32 under your 6" measurement, but would look like 6". Here are a picture of my '33 PC 17" wire wheels and a 16" Chrysler Corporation, (Plymouth?) 16" wire wheel. Your hubcaps would fit either of these wheels, and may possibly fit the 18" and 19" wires as well, although I don't have one of those around to check. Also, some of the wire wheel hubcaps have a squared "shoulder," like the ones on my car. I have seen one hubcap that is more of a rounded shoulder, but those fit the wheel, as well. Both have the slanted rectangular box you describe with "Plymouth" embossed inside, and a circle of rings around it. Hope this helps.  GA

The extreme outside diameter on my hubcaps is 7". And, on the backside, the diameter of the rim  that contacts the spring clamps of the wheel is 6".
The word Plymouth, the parallelogram around it, and the black paint are the same as in JimCno's pictures.

(I don't seem to be able to convert my Word document pictures into JPEG or some other file type the forum requires. Tried, but no luck.)

If this is what you're talking about, I believe the answer is they fit a '34. If I remember, there are several different '34 rims and they only fit one type.

Someone with a '33 or '34 please chime in.

Actually, I don't think pix will help, as these 6" fitter caps look exactly the same as the (7" fitter) ones for my '36. The appearance is what snookered me when I bought them. I should have scrounged something to measure with.

Possibly they are P-1 (17 inch wheel) hubcaps?

I bought a set of hubcaps for my 1936 P2 and discovered that they don't fit. On the back side, the diameter of the rim that contacts the  spring clamps on the wheel is 6", and, on the front side, there is the word Plymouth  inside a parallelogram.

The measurement on hubcaps that fit my P2 is 7", but the front side looks the same.

How can I find out what Plymouths these 6" hubcaps fit?    ???
