53 Project Finally Started

Yep, what he said.........you can join up and participate in the P15-D24 Forum as well as this one.

A lot of topics cross over between the various models of Plym and Dodge.......most of which have
a flathead six motor, and many other similar characteristics. You can even use your same forum name.....

You might also want to check out the informationand forum available a p14 -D24.com.? Although primarily populated by folks with 46 to 48 Plymouths and Dodges, there are quite a few earlier and later cars and owners represented.? Check out the host pages maintenance and parts vendors sections, while you wait for you forum registration t be processed.? You can read the forum entries as a guest but you must register to participate.? Have fun with your Project.? I have a bad case of arage envy.

Hi Cliff, that's a really sharp 54. I love that color combination. I really like the 52 chev too. I am going to attach a picture of my 54 sovoy 4 door that is another possible project. The guy I got it from didn't know if it would run or not and I haven't tried to get it running. It is a Hydrive car. The car is complete and very little rust so maybe??? As you might be able to tell, I have more projects than time. I live in Hill City in Northwest Kansas on the high plains. I am 100 miles from Colorado and 50 miles from Nebraska.

Oh, I forgot the comment I wanted to add to my last post. I am sure that you are all wondering why, if I have all these parts, I haven't progressed further with my project. What can I say, so far I am a better collector than I am a doer. I am going to try and do better.

Thanks guys and David, I would be interested in the front floor mat. I have a 54 parts car that I bought just because it had an overdrive tranny in it. I also have a 52 4 dr with an overdrive in it that I may restore if I get to it. I have the correct "1953 overdrive Script" that goes on the trunk and an overdrive manual. So I should be able to get it all together someday. I also have NOS fender skirts for it and a nice used set of the wire hubcaps for it. I have very good stainless, bezels, hood ornaments, NOS grill and grill teeth, upgrade for the radio, dash clock, mint horn ring, very good steering wheel, map light, glove box light, emergency brake light, door handle guards, mopar locking gas cap, under dash Kleenex holder with Plymouth emblem on it. The bumpers and interior are going to be my biggest expenses. I plan on trying to paint it myself.

Welcome. That car of yours appears to be in very good shape. The compact dimensions of the 53, which while not trendy by standards of the day, make for a very attractive package now. See if you can find an overdrive. Lots of 53s were so equipped. I have a good rubber front floormat for a 53. You can have it if you pay the freight. Your car probably should have carpet being a Belvedere.

Nice shop, you've got a great place to work on your Plymouth. You might want to hide that pipe wrench somewhere, so you're not tempted to beat on something with it if/when you get frustrated. :)

Hi Guys, I am trying to post some photos of my long postponed 53 Belvedere 2 Dr Hardtop project. Although I acquired the car several years ago, for $50, it has sit in my garage since that time. I recently retired and finally erected a new shop to work in and am ready to get serious about the project. The car is in very restorable condition with minimal rust. Needs paint and interior work. I drove it home, 10 blocks, when I bought it but, the engine had a rod out and knocked all the way home. At a later date I was able to purchase a machine shop rebuilt correct 53 motor. Getting this installed and running will be the first priority. I am excited by the prospect of getting to work on it in my new shop.
