Old Cars Price guide works for me - I got exactly what OPG said my Fury was worth when I sold it three years ago - at that time a #2 car was listed at $10,000 and a #3 car at $8000, I got $9500 and mine was a good #2 car.  NADA does not give very good idea - check OPG and be accurate on what Grade # your car is - not many #2 cars but a lot of #3 cars.

Unfortunately, these price guides are just guides. I always say they are accurate within a 90% margin of error. Just like the B-J auctions, these are not real world prices. Some examples can bring in twice what the top "values" that are listed, while others would struggle to fetch number three prices. It all depends on the mood of the buyer.

Value guides are especially subjective in this market and economy. However, these old car guides are good for insurance determination.

I agree with you.  The other contacts would have to be Chrysler or Galen Govier for true #'s

This is what I got from NADA today.? Mind you no #'s on production, but this is what your particular Sport Fury hardtop coupe is worth.
? ?On a side note, my wife's cousin owned a '64 Newport wagon with a 383 3 speed floor mounted shifter they bought new.

I had a friend in Seattle that had a 1968 Fury I, four door sedan with a factory four speed - that was very odd,  I saw a four door 1964 Chrysler Newport with a factory four speed once also.

Welcome Al!

I agree with rarity. There were not many C-bodies ordered with four-speeds. Most were sold in the B-bodies.

I have a totally original 1968 Sport Fury Convertible with the High Performance 383 engine and a factory 4-speed with the optional Hurst shifter.? It also has the console with bucket seats.? I have owned this car for over 35 years and it now has 102,000 miles.? I believe the Sport Fury is quite rare.? I just joined and this is my 1st post.? Al

Those are from the 1968 Fury Sales booklet - you can view the whole booklet here.

The Old Car Manual Project deserves a lot of support from the car community, they have gone from obscure to great.

I scanned a few manuals and sent them to them - the 1968 Fury was one of them I sent, if you have something they don't have, scan it and send it.

Are those specs 1968?   that makes things a little clearer. i see they made a 383 super commander and a 440 super commander in the year those specs were from. this car did have a double snorkel air cleaner but no telling where it came from.

The 383 commando was a 4bbl carb they also made a 383 2bbl carb and the 440 was the Super Commando

Most of these questions I cannot answer, but I do know that the 383 commando was available, there were probably more made with the 383 than the 440. I am not 100%, but I believe the BBs went to orange in '68. My guess would be about 25% of these were four speeds (obviously, it would be a higher percentage for the B-bodies). Coupled with the formal, or non-fastback c-pillar, I would bet there were less than a thousand made. However, this is pure speculation on my part.

yes i see that 6600 number but now i am really confused. did they make a "super commando"  383 or were they all 440's.   also motor has no numbers on pad behind distributor (383) or on left side pad(440).  it does have a partial vin on pad right side block just above oil pan flange. vin does not match car and my recolection is that this spot for a number is 69 and up. also what colors were BB motors in 68?  why do i seem to think tourquois (sp).  i know its been painted but it looks to have always been orange. build tag says this car is 383 4 speed sport fury but i believe the original motor is long gone.  it has a dual snorkel air cleaner (orange) with the vacum tubes and a pie plate that says super commando (no cid). this also seems to me was after 68 but what do i know.   all my other motors have something on the left or right pad and my 69 and up have vins on the block just above the oil pan flange. (right side). i certainly dont think the owner is trying to decieve me or anyone we just dont know what we have here. help me my brothers. ???

Those numbers could be what are currently registered, quite different than production numbers. I would ask him if he has any paperwork to support his claim, but I wouldn't base your decision on something like that. I would base it on price and how much you like it. Incidentally, I LOVE it and I don't even know what color it is!  ;)

Definitely an uncommon beast. I don't have numbers for '68s with those options, but I know most were the (less attractive) fastbacks.

I had a chance to buy one back in '88, same set-up, it was scorch red. It had 72k on the clock, was all original and gorgeous. He was asking $2800 and I waited too long. I was looking for a '67-69 Barracuda and then decided on the Fury, but it was gone. Another case for the "One that Got Away" files.

If the price is right and you like it, buy it!

i'm buying a 68 sport fury. it has the 383 super commando with factory 4 speed and posi.  its a 2 door hdtp with the regualar roof (not the fast top)  anybody have any idea how many of these cars were out there.? its bucket seat with console car and the beauty is certainly in the eye of the beholder. i do think that this might be a rare combo.  any body know give me a shout back. thanks. i have a sickness for these plymouths,  and its a good thing.
