33 PC Coupe.Engine and tranny Question

The lever on the driver side of the 1933/34 freewheeling transmission is actuated by a cable from a knob on the dash. If you have a PD the dash is symmetrical and the freewheeling knob is on the driver side in a position symmetrical to the ignition switch on the passenger side. Not sure how it is on a PC.

Thanks for the info, the lever is on the drivers side,it was locked in place by a bar(looks homemade)asthere is no lver to make the freewheel work.

Actually the P2 would be from a '36. I can't find anything to match the other numbers you have.

Sounds like you have a 1935 engine in there since the engine number starts with P2 rather than PC or PD. Visually you can tell the difference between the 1933-4 and the later 1935 and up engine: The 1933 and 34 do not have a full length water jacket and you can see the outline of the cylinder bores between the water jacket and the crankcase on the driver side of the engine.

Freewheeling was available in 1933 and 34. On the freewheeling transmissions there is a lever on the driver side toward the rear that locks the freewheeling cam. There is no external lever on the passenger side. Also the 1933/34 transmissions did not have the shift tower attached. Instead the shift lever bolted onto the frame cross member. The bottom end of the lever extended down into the transmission to operate the shift rails. There is a (probably missing) hose like seal between the transmission and frame cross member to keep crud from getting into transmission.

I have a 33 pc coupe,the question i have is, it is not the original engine or trans,the engine #on the upper left hand is P2*225414B, BELOW IS,(A.N.), AND ON THE BOTTOM,12-27-35,right hand side,632929, The trans and bellhousing are not the original, i do not think, previous owner cut the crossmember so bellhousing would fit ,two notches on either side to clear the ridges on the bellhousing, the only number on the tranny is  600996-4, it also has a lever on the pass side which is locked in place ,nothing is attached to it!,Any help would be greatly appreciated ???
