Jacking up a 41

 :) I have a 1940 Plymouth and on the General categry section I have a copy of the instructions on how and where to use the so called bumper jack .... And as you can see it is not on the BUMPER! ... GO figure! ... Happy Ply-mouthing DANiel

Go to Wal mart or Pep boyz or harbor freight and purchase a hydraulic floor jack. You can get a 2000 lb rated jack for 40 bucks or less, along withthe jack buy a coupe of Jackstands.

when you jack the vehicle the lift atm can be positioned beneath the frame, beheath the spring pad of shock mount and or the center of the differential.  In front you can place it under the frame, under an A frame or under the middle of the front cross memeber.

Even though the cars were sold with bumper jacks, they aren't safe and neither is lifting the car by the bumper.  If you find a bumper jack paint it up nice and place it where it belongs in the trunk and leave it there.

I would not use the forklift on the bumper! On any car find a sturdy place on the main frame. My car is a '37 so I am unfamiliar with a '41. If it is anything like my car you can use the axles where the shackles go over the axle with 4 nuts on the bottom. I use a lift on the main frame to lift the entire car but on the road if I had to change a flat I would use the main frame and a bottle jack. Be sure to chock the other wheels.

Since I don't have the correct jack to jack up my car, can you tell me where is the best place to place my hand-jack so that I can raise the car up to change the tire. I have a forklift can I pick up the car from the front bumber?
