another thing u could try--I haven't done this but it should work fine--is to make one out of leather.  I do some leather crafting for one of my other interests-Cowboy Action shooting- and leather is a substance that has been used in the wagon and auto industries the past 100+ years.  Make a template out of file weight cardboard, and trace it onto a piece of 13 wt leather u can get at Tandy.  Dye it black,and burnish the edges, and it will outlast your ownershipof the vehicle, and work as well as rubber to keep the elements at bay. To the casual eye it will look the part.

i tried everywhere i could think of for a pad for my 39 Desoto which uses the same pad as the 39 Plymouth dodge and Chrysler with no luck . i'm not familiar with the 41 but i think there column and gear change system is different with the change rod on the outside of the column, where as the 39 was a sliding system inside the column. i ended up making one out of a 3/8" thick piece of fairly solid sponge rubber then painted it a flat black , it would not win any prizes in a show , but to me looks okay and stops the air coming in.

There is an ad in the Plymouth Bulletin for reproduction steering column floor pads for 1941 Plymouths. You might want to check and see how close that is to the one used in 1939.

I have tried both Steele Rubber and Roberts to no avail. They donot have or produce the steering column floor grommet for the 1939 Plymouth. I need other references other than those two suppilers.

I need a source for a STEERING COLUMN FLOOR PAD GROMMET for my 1939 Plymouth with column gear shift. If you know of a reproduction source, (not a used grommet) I need your help. That is the rubber grommet floor pad that fits around the steering column at the floor board.
