anyone have one hood hinge spring for a 41 or a part number???

Think I just used a couple of pieces of oak and a "C" clamp. The edges on both the bushing and the ring are beveled so it slips right in.

Thanks mvair... does it seam that the bushing would have to be pressed in via a press or will a C-clamp do the trick?  I'd like to do it on the car. 

Tha part you are requesting is listed in the Master Parts Book as a "Steering Gear Remote Control Gearshift rod BUSHING". The part number is 1119854. That number seems to supercede to 1142539. It was used in all Plymouths from 1940-1948.

I was able to get one NOS for my project. I pressed it in after I painted the column.

I just did a quick search and found that Len Dawson at Deception Pass Motor Parts (www.dpmotorparts.com) indicates he has two in stock at $22 each. Other NOS vendors may have it too. I don't know if it is available as a reproduction from Kanter or the like.

It would be the bearing that is in the circle that is welded onto the steering shaft.  You can see the edge of it in mvairs photo below.  Let me know if that makes more sense.

I probably have one, but not real sure what you are looking for. Have several columns in stock, and if  a used one would foot the bill, I may be able to come up with something.

No one has leads on a bearing???

Alright, with that explained.. does anyone have a source for the bearing that mounts the shifter to the steering column?  Also, how about a steering column to floor seal for 41?  I've tried calling the gentleman that advertises such in the Plymouth Bulletin, however, he no longer has any.  Thanks for the input!
 

There is a nut on the bottom end of the shift rod. Just remove the nut and slide the shift levers off the end. Then the rod will pull out through the top.? Of course, you will also need to remove the steering wheel and the bracket that fastens the rod to the top of the column with two screws.
You do not need to take the shift knob/arm-lever assembly apart. Just leave it attached to the rod and remove the entire rod and bracket assembly.

Can someone please explain how to remove the shifter shaft that goes down the top of the steering column?  I need  to replace the seal/rubber thing that mounts to the floor and I took the easy way out and just cut the old one off.  Again, car is a 41.  Thanks again!
