Yep - differant head gasket on the 28 Model Q.  That was the old Maxwell engine.....the correct numbers for the Q head gasket are Victor 713, McCord 5464 and Fitzgerald 840.  The other numbers I gave earlier were for the 29 U, 30 30U, 31 PA and 32 PB.  All thanks to Earl Buton, the club's technical director......

Thank you gentlemen!

I have updated the appropriate parts page on my site based on your information:

Any other cross references you have that I could add would be met with great appreciation!

The Plymouth Master Parts List shows a different head gasket for the model Q, it also shows the Q using 14 head studs, the others 15. Bill james

I don't have a 28, but I think the 28 head is a little different than the 29-32.  Somewhere I found the following listed for the 28 Headgasket:

MOPAR - 42716
McCord - 5464
Victor - 713

I'd like to add those cross references to my Plymouth parts pages at:

http://www.ply33.com/Parts/Group9.html

However I see in the parts book that the 1928 Q had a different head gasket than the U through PB:

Gasket, head (Q)  #42716
Gasket, head (U, 30-U, PA, PB) #387918

Will the listed McCord, Victor and Fitzgerald numbers some sort of shape that would work on both the 28 and later four cylinders engines or were they only for 29-32?

John - I checked with Earl Buton on this.  He says the Victor 774 is the correct gasket for 1928-1932 four cylinder Plymouths.  Other brands you might want to watch for include McCord 5517-A and Fitzgerald 890

Does anyone know if the Victor # 774 is the correct headgasket for a 29-32 Plymouth 4 Cylinder engine?
