Lindsay replied immediately, saying that he is unable to help with a lock cylinder at this time. So the hunt continues. This is part of the hobby and what makes swap meets fun! Meanwhile, the trunk closes and latches, but I just don't put anything I want to lose in there.

The GOOD news is that I finally got around to calculating the gas mileage my old P2 is getting (the cost of gas being what it is), and discovered on this first check that it's 21.25 mpg!!!, and 1 qt. of non-detergent 30 wt.oil every 100 miles.

Bob, thanks again for help with a part #. 

Jim, I tried an experienced locksmith who works with a lot of old cars, and learned that the cylinder is quite worn so that it no longer functions properly,  and cannot be repaired satisfactorily, although the  handle is great.  Know any good chicken dentists?

The part number is 830038 for the Trunk and luggage Compartment Lock Cyl and Keys assembly

This part number was used on the 1936 P-1 and P-2 and the 1937 P-3

I would think these lock cylinders would be like hen's teeth by now

To simplify and refine things, what I really need is the lock cylinder that goes into the trunk handle for a '36 P2 humpback sedan. Was a separate part # given for this?

According to my parts book on page 367 that is the correct part number for your car if it is a RS coupe or a convertible coupe, otherwise part number 721451 is the correct number.  I would tend to think that you need the second part number

For my next number, I've been looking for a trunk handle with lock cylinder for my 1936 Plymouth P2 (deluxe touring sedan).  One that looks like it might be correct has shown up on the 'net. The parts # given is PART# 721990.

Does anybody know whether this parts # is for a '36 P2?
