I do not have the Ross Roy Data Book for the 1939's to show colors. But, I have NEVER heard of a original, to that car floor shifter being available. The darn column shifting mechanism that was an exclusive for that year only and make were a REAL P.I.T.A. to adjust, service or find parts for.
Good luck with your endeavor!

In a few weeks I will be going to look at a 1939 convertible that I'm considering for purchase.  The owner stated that the car was an early production unit equipped with a floor shift.  I was under the impression that 1939 P8 models were equipped with column shifters.  Is it possible the car was equipped with a floor shift when new?  Seems unlikely to me because Plymouth was touting the "all new" column shifter as a sales feature.  Also, was red an available paint color?  1939 paint color charts do not show red as a Plymouth choice.  Any information is appreciated.  Thanks in advance.
