The 28 orQ had the early stylized "P" cap with the take off nut on the outside of the cap.

The 29 or U had the same design but the take off nut was behind the cap face. I believe this cap was used on the early 30U up until number 1558573.

I may be wrong but according to my parts book there was a change in the hub cap number at 1558573. After that number and the PA had the same cap.

This was about the time they went to water pumps, fuel pumps and oval rear windows. I think this is the time they changed from stylized P to the Plymouth cap. Not sure, but I had my car ( late 30U Business Coupe) judged at the 2010 meet and I had Plymouth caps and Earl didn't say anything.

Just my 2 cents worth.

Maybe Sebastiano's hubcap is for the wire wheels?  I have the wood wheels with just "P" on them.

Sebastiano, I have never seen a cap like that one, thanks for posting it. I wonder if that was only on cars shipped out of country?

O.K. - gotcha now.  Yes, both 28 Q & 29 U used the letter P.

Jim:

I'm talking strictly about the hubcaps where "Plymouth" is spelled out...on my '29, there is only the "P" on the hubcaps...not talking about the radiator :)

Plymouth is spelled out??? Don't follow your thought here!  Or are you referring to the radiator emblem saying "Plymouth" instead of Chrysler Plymouth like the Model Q.  It was only the Q that had Chrysler Plymouth on the emblem - the U said only Plymouth as did all later models.  The 30U had the deep radiator shell, not the thin line shell like Q & U.  We did a feature on the emblems in the Bulletin sometime back - I'll try to download that issue to you.....

Jim - the 30U is what you are referring to I assume since "Plymouth" is spelled out, correct?

The 3 alike are for the Model U.  The longer one was for the wood wheel on the PA Thrift.

What about the longer/oddball one?  Why would that be different than the rest?

Can anyone tell me what these are for?  They look like they are for early '30's Plymouth models with artillery wheels.  3 of the 4 are the same...the fourth I'm stumped on, since it's a little longer than the others.  Thoughts?
