Looking for U-Joint Dust Cover 867593

From the photos in the manual, the factory replacement leather boots appear to be much better designed than the lace up ones I have seen for sale. If you have an original would it be possible to use it for a pattern to make more?

And if so, could I buy a couple off you?

Thanks for sharing your experience. I actually bought the universal joint rebuild kit. It came with the option of the rubber boot or the leather dust cover. I ordered the leather dustcover.  The leather dustcover that came with the kit was not the original type. It was the lace type with wire twists on the ends and no internal grease cup. As it turns out, when I disassembled the drive shaft and took it to a drive line speciality shop, I was told the universal joints were not worn. It was suggested I just clean, grease and reassembly the joints. It was also suggested I swap ends on the driveshaft when installed to even out any undetectible wear.

I am trying to make the car as close to orginial as possible. One of the original leather covers was on the front universal joint. The rear cover had been replaced with the rubber boot type. I know the front cover was original because it was the sealed type that was only installed at the factory. So I guess technically the leather type (that wraps around and closes with laces or tabs) available to shops in the early 40's were not actually original either. I think the rubber ones are better than any of the leather replacement types (NOS or new replacements), but as I said, I am trying to keep the car factory/dealer original.

I found one of the NOS part number 867593...so now I am just looking for one more.

Several years ago i was also looking for two of those replacemant covers.  I finally gave up and bought a pair of U joint rebuilding kits from Roberts which included the solid rubber covers.  I rationalized the extra expense by thinking i really didn't know what shape the ball and trunnions were in, and new couldn't hurt............. and after all the time and money i had spent, whats another $100?

Does anyone have, or know where I can get, an NOS Leather Universal Joint Dust Cover. I need Part # 867593. This is the MOPAR cover with leather grease cup, metal closure tabs, and metal bands with screws on the end.
