Help!--P2 Front Engine Mount

Hi, David and "Plymouths",

Well, it was a brutal two days' experience, but not complicated. Some old screws & bolts didn't want to come off, and the almost non-existent hand and finger space between the fan & radiator core and the "blind" nuts on the mount didn't help. But we got the P2's front "floating power" engine mount in, and the car put back together & running. All new mounts now.

No, it was not a noisy start-up. Yes, the input did make it easier.

As awkward as it seems, the radiator must come out and it might be easier if the water pump is off as well.  I am writing to caution you about raising the engine by putting a jack under the oil pan. If you look at the front of the pan, there is often a slight bulge which is there to allow clearance for # 1 rod. Do not lift against the pan in this area or your next restart is going to be a noisy one.

On these cars, it is actually quite easy to remove the entire grille shell or even the entire front end assembly.  Not fun, but not terribly difficult either.

Am replacing the engine mounts on my '36 P2. The rear mounts are no problem, but the front one looks like a bear. I can get to the top bolts ok, but not to the bottom ones. Is there a way to do this besides removing the radiator and front fenders?
