Speaking of stray engines........

Can anyone use a complete, running, '34 engine?

This one was in a '34 PF sedan which belonged to a club member here.

The story goes that he had the engine completely rebuilt, at great expense, and then decided to sell the car. I have the head off, and the appearance of the bores/pistons is consistent with the story.

The car's new owner fitted a mid-'50's engine, and I got the '34 engine to be a spare for our '34.

As with a great many other things, there's a 'catch'.......the head for this engine has a teeny-tiny crack started, on the top, at the very back of the head. The '34 head castings are too thin to weld, on the upper surface (been there, tried that), but this one will probably function for some years, using a 'block seal' product in the coolant. It would be suitable, I should think, for a car which is given relatively little road use, until a good head could be found.

What would I ask for the '34 PF engine?.......I've no good idea as to what its worth, so I'd listen to any realistic offer.....some sort of trade, if at all possible,  involving a '57-'59 Dodge/Ply 230 engine, would be nice.

(the idea there is that my partner wants our '34 to be 'dialled in' as a good every-day use road car, and a late '50's engine would provide a good bit better performance. We can fit the 230 without having to cut or otherwise change any original parts, so we could preserve the original PE engine, and someday refit it for exact originality)
