It sounds to me that you might need to replace the dimmer switch.

Hi.  I hope someone can help me.  I just bought a used 95 Plymouth Voyager.  I need to know how the dimmer switch works.  I mean, I slide the swtich to the right (and it works ... the instrument panel becomes increasingly brighter), but the interior lights come on as well.  As soon as I move the dimmer, the overhead lights come on, know matter how dim or bright I make the instrument panel and I don't slide it all the way over either.  I don't know how to shut the inside lights off without shutting off the dimmer.  It makes driving at night extremely difficult.

Can anyone help????
