Well, again the same question.
I'm rebuilding my 259 cu.in. poly engine. What I did find out is that all 241-259 (260) and 270 poly and hemi engines have the same crankshafts, despite different cast-in numbers. My crank is almost downgraded to a lamppost. So I started looking for a replacement.
Over the last 2 month I did find about 4 crankshafts for my 1955 P27 engine.
But when they get magged, they all seem to have a crack. It looks like all of these engines when you open them have a crack in the crankshaft. The engines that weren't opened......well they are still running.
I'm beginning to wonder, is there a crank in the world that is over 50 years old that doesn't have a crack?
I've heard telling that engines from the 50th are so well overdimensioned, that you can re-use a crank with crack and run it for 100,000 miles and not breaking it.
So I would like to have your opion. What would you do.
Here is the case and question.

Is it only the crank from a? 241-259 (260) and 270 poly and hemi engine that have so mutch trouble with cracks?

Is there anyone there that did have a crankshaft with a crack and did re-use it, good or bad story

Buy the cracked crank or keep looking??????????????

(the pain is at the right bearing, look a t the difference in diameter, this is what NO-OIL will do to your crank)
