Can't fix it or won't fix it?  Most shops either can't be bothered or they don't have anyone around any more with the skills.  Try to find an old time radiator shop where they still remember how to work on radiators that aren't plastic!  I don't know where you are located but there is an outfit on Long Island in New York called Cap-A Radiator and they have done some amazing stuff for me.  They ain't cheap but a phone call to them is and they might be able to get you back on the road.  Their number is 516 293-9026.  Hope this helps.

I am not really a car guy but I can do some basics. I have a 1948 special deluxe.
I pulled out my radiator and took it to the shop. They showed me the top tank and it has several stress cracks. They said they cant fix it. 
I tried to buy a radiator and after it being on back order for 4 months the owners said 2 more years. Can anyone help with some ideas.
