Thanks for the input. Coker Tire says for the 1952, 3 inch or wider was in use.

In Coker's tire ad, they say this resembles a 2 1/4" wide white......which I like personally.

Your estimate of the width may be pretty accurate as your car was in between the 4 inch
"gangsterwalls" and the narrower wide whites of the late fifties.
