Wood graining Metal
I sand blasted the dash and all of the associated parts including the window garnish moldings.  I blasted with the pressure set at 40 psi so as not to warp the metal.  Then primer with self etching primer.  The rest is all specified by Grain-it Technologies.  http://woodgraining.com/main.html
The base coat of Du Pont, Centari paint of the color (and ink color) specified by Grain-it.  They provide a 6' x 16" plate with the grain pattern etched to it.  You squeegee the ink into the groves.  Then you pick up the image with a very soft rubber roller.  Then take the roller and transfer the image to your part.  There is a technique to getting the overlap and edges so they look good.  The more I worked with it the better I felt about doing it.  Then followed up with 3 coats of clear.  The ink is water soluble so errors or something you don't like can be wiped away.  I started over many, many, many times.  I think I'd like to try to do another dash just to see if I can do better.  The small flat pieces are easy.  Like the glove box door. If anyone wants to do wood graining this is the way to go.  They have a couple of hundred patterns to choose from.  If the forum had a "recommend" section this would go into it!
