Watch repair tools are good for this. There are very small pullers. In GE they are available via internet, You may find them in US too.

Does anyone have a suggestion for removal of the speedometer needle safely? I need to swap the speedometer mechanism, but the escutcheon on my original is in better condition. Hence, I need to remove the needle and replace the escutcheon. One friend said to take the mechanism to a jeweler to pull off the needle. Any help would be appreciated.
