If you can't get the proper ones (yours would be the late model which screws in from the back), I would use a drill bit and a preferably a drill press to start the holes.  Self tapping will destroy the lens if no hole is drilled.  Where did you get the replacements?  Usually, the correct ones are abundant on Ebay; I bought about four or six a couple years back for about $20.00 for all.  They are NOS aftermarket, not genuine MOPAR, but that's not an issue for me.  I'll at least have good looking spares if something happens.

I have new nos tail lights and they need to be drilled or tapped out for the screws on the inside of them(for mounting to tail light chrome housing). What should I do about this?? Use a metal tap or use self-taping screws. I tryed the self-taping, but that cracked the new lens. Any help?? I don't want to crack anymore. The back up lens is hard to get. Thanks
