should you decide that wood grain is the way to go, the pattern is Sapele which is a type of Mahogany pattern.  You might look around your area to see if you have a place that does Immersion transfer.  This is a process where a pattern is printed on a transfer medium and the pieces are diped into and then removed from a tank of solvent over which the patern is floated.  A friend of mine had some pieces done in his Mini a few years back.  I believe tack the it coat him avout 75 cents a square inch.

Some places can make anything into a patern though digital imaging, meaning you could have a patern made from a picture of your wife or dog, and have it transfered to your parts.  I have seen several sources that do this type of work, but have never seen the proper pattern in thier stock choices.
thi link will take you to a sample of the pattern not a graphics transfer place.

FYI guys - dashboards on convertibles were always painted body color - no wood grain on the open cars.  I've seen some beautiful convertible restorations improperly done with a wood-grain dash!  Garnish mouldings were also painted body color on convertibles.....

Thanks for the info.  I suspected that was the case, but had seen some pictures of convertibles with the dash the same as the exterior.
Now I have to decide if I want to go all the trouble of removing the dash for a repaint.

Think maybe the black is a repaint.
According to a book "Steering Wheels and Dashboards, Chrysler Corporation 1939-1939" all Dashes wer wood graini.

"Of all the Chrysler Corporation cars for 1946, Plymouth was the least changed. The dashboard was once again trimmed in chrome. The single wood grain effect for 1942 gave way to a two tone effect. A light gray wood grain shade was used on the Deluxe and a darker tan shade on the Special Deluxe."

The main dash was the color indicated with a dark offset color used in the upper portion of the glove compartment and the corresponding portions to the extreme left and right of the dash.

Hope this helps.

The interior trim and dash on my 46 business coupe are painted black (same as exterior).  Was this a factory color, or were all interiors wood grain?
