'54 Belvedere Ign. Switch Removal, Help!

Hooray,  and thanks friends, I was able to "see" and remove my Ignition Switch this afternoon after removing my Glove Box!   :D   That was tough, and I'll need a replacement for the Glove Box - I know where I can get one - but that made the job much easier. 

Now I need some help with the removing the Lock Cylinder from the switch.  Any suggestions?   ???  And I do have the proper key.

On your car, to get a better look at what is going on behind the
dash, you might what to remove your glove box door and glove
box.  I think this will give you good access to your ignition switch.

Great Photos, they really help!   ;)   I have to work on removing this switch over the coming weekend, as it is too dark for me to try by the time I get home, (That's mainly why I don't enjoy Winter as much as Summer.)  So I'll report back once I've had a chance to get under the dash and see what's up.  Thanks for your help, I truly appreciate it.

O.K., George,

I think I have found an answer for you from another forum and also I took some photos
today that seem to agree with what I read.

I believe that the gauge cluster in my car is very similar to the one in your car.
The poster on the other forum stated that there was a screw at the bottom of
the ignition switch that has to be removed to remove the ignition switch.

So, here are the photos.

I shall give your suggestions a try over the weekend.  If I get stuck, I'll try to take some pics and post them here, then maybe you can tell me what I'm doing wrong.

You can some times use snap ring pliers or I modified an old needle nose plier on the griding wheel to fit the small slots in the bezel.

I have never done this before on a 1954 Plymouth, but there are several ways that
the knobs are fixed to the switch.

1.  The knob may be simply screwed to the headlight shaft.  You can try grabbing
the headlight switch shaft with a pair of pliers with the jaws protected with tape or
rubber and see if you can twist the knob off.

2.  There may be a release pin or hole on the headlight switch body.  In that case,
you would push and hold the pin and the knob and shaft will come out as a unit.
Or, there my be a hole that you will have to push a small awl or piece of wire into
to get the headlight shaft to release from the body.

I just looked in my shop manual, and I think I remember that the knobs on
my car's headlight switch and panel light switch uses an allen head set screw
to hold the knob to the shaft.  I will scan this portion of the page and attach
it.  Maybe it will help you.

Hi Friends,
As the topic says, I need to remove the Ignition Switch from my '54 Belvedere Sedan.  Something has gone wrong with it, and I have a new one to replace it with, but none of the Service Manuals I have, tell or show me how to get it out!!!     ???     So to those of you who have done this before, any and all help would be most appreciated.  Thanks.    :)
