I used a spritz bottle with water, the a hair dryer, don't know if this is the correct way or not, but it worked for me

How can any remaining wrinkles be removed?

Bob is correct. When I was a kid I worked in auto upholstery.
First the windlace, second the holder strips. These should have like small teeth on the undeside. Then push the headliner material under the holders. Be sure to cut off excess before trying to stuff to much material up into that small space.

If you used mohair it can be tightened with steam.

The metal pieces go on first before the headliner is installed, but after the windlace is installed, then you gently tuck the headliner underneath using a plastic putty knife, or atleast that is how I installed mine on my '40 Business coupe.

I am installing a new headliner in my 1940 Plymouth 4dr sedan. The bows are no problem, however, how
does one install the screws in the side holding strips? They are under the liner. Suggestions please. ;)
