Pat, it could have been, I know up in the northeast corner of NY and Vermont. where I grew up, they were getting hammered with heavy rain and high winds after the storm went by us.  I haven't heard of any of the covered bridges being destroyed down in this area.  We did have 4 inches of rain here in Neversink, but up in the mountains just a few miles from us they had over 7-8 inches of rain.  We have power here, but people a few miles from us still don't have power.  In fact the shop my son works at doesn't have power nor do my sister and her husband that live five miles from us.  I have an email sent to a girl I grew up with up there, but haven't heard from her yet, so it will be interesting to read what she has to say

Glad you're OK, Bob. Just saw a video of a covered bridge collapsing on the noon news. I thought they said it was in upstate New York, but no further details.

Seb,

Thanks for checking on us.  We survived Irene with no problems at our house, but there was lots of flooding and loss of electricity in our area.  I have posted a few photos that I took this morning.  In the one photo that shows part of the road washed out, just in front where the flagman is, was only partially there, the County was in there replacing the road to make it passable.  The Neversink Res, which supplies water for NYC was overflowing due to the rain.
