'36 Tudor sedan insert

Todd: 2 door sedan. The '35 /'36 Ply. appears different from earlier models as it has the wood bows attached to the roof underside with brackets (available from a roof insert vendor) and chicken wire stapled on top of the bows, etc. Then a pad followed by vinyl ( originally artificial leather colored to match the body color per the Parts books) is then secured in the opng. surround channel only by the rubber seal pushed into the channel. My question is if anyone has had a any experience or installation problems installing a panel such as 1/8" masonite to replace the chicken wire,which I don't need as a radio antenna. I've seen it done in other makes but no experience with the Plymouths.

Are we talking about a Ford "Tudor" or a Plymouth "Two Door Sedan" here? :)

Roof inserts on Chrysler products of that era are assembled by putting everything on the insert frame then pressing the frame into the body shell. See: http://www.ply33.com/Repair/roof

Has anyone had experience installing an insert to replace the chicken wire in the '35 or '36 sedan roof ?
Am revisiting an option other than going the steel weld-in route, etc. which would be to glue/ screw a Masonite, door skin type panel to the bows and channel surround,( insulate the bottom to prevent reverberation) and apply the vinyl, pad backing and seal. This probably can all be done from on top of the car without marring the paint. ??
