The "Wayback Machine" was laid up almost a month, while we replaced the pionion seal, inner and outer axle grease seals, real brake lines and both rear wheel cylinders.  So this morning Cooper, my wife, and I went for a ride up in the mountains to take these photos of a covered bridge that was built in 1860.  Just a nice ride on back roads in the "Wayback Machine of approx 30 miles round trip.

I hope everyone is having as great a day as I am,
Bob

Thanks, Boys, first thing will be compression test. I suspect a valve sticking in # 5 cylinder. Changed Spark plugs and tested spark on every cyl.

Ride home Lake Achensee-  toD?sseldorf  was 450 mls without problems, made 1/2 alps, Spessart, Taunus, Westerwald and  Siebengebirge mountain ranges on Autobahn with ease and 75 mph with throttle 3/4 open. We had 1150 mls in  all, 250 crusing in the Austrian Alps.

the spark plugs are the first thing i would check , change them round and see if it makes any difference to what cylinder is out , if it makes a difference the plug is faulty , if no change i would give it a compression test , to me it sounds like a blown head gasket.

Go,
Not sure if you found the problem yet, so here is a coomment on what happened to me. I was driving my car at a higher rate of speed than I normaly do. When I stopped I noticed I had a miss in the engine. I found one of the cylinders was not firing. I pulled out the spark plug and found a piece of carbon lodged between the electrodes. I cleaned the carbon out put the spark plug back in. When I started the engine I had all 6 cylinders fireing again.
I hope your fix will be as easy.
Happy Motoring!

Go, thanks for sharing the sites, I hope the problems with #5 isn't too serious

Love Your postings, Bob!

We are  plymouthing in Austria?s Alps (Achensee - Tirol). Past Friday, on tour with some 30 other oldtimer cars and 4 weighty passengers in the Ply, I had to pause 10 minutes due to little overheating. Didn?t bring it?s usual performance nor ran properly.

Sunday I checked ignition etc: seems to run on 5 cylinders only (no diffference when taking # 5 spark cable off). Maybe some valve problem.
Can?t solve it here, so I drive carefully this remaining holiday week.

Makes easily its max speed (75 mph) comfortably, but lacks power in lower rpm in the mountains.

Will check valves plus rod bearings next week.

Sorry, can?t put pics here in the hotel?s computer.
so, some Links: Hotel site doesn?t show the perfect underground car garage (with electric plug for my batteries charger - I have 2 batteries, but only one can be charged by car generator)...

Pat,

No rain here the past two days, but today they are calling for strong to Severe thunderstorms.  So far this month we have had 12 out of 26 days with rain and over seven inches of rain in those 12 days.
  •

Cool photo, Bob. We got 1.2 inches of rain at 5;30 A.M. and more this evening, with storms.

Cooper and I took advantage of a nice day, NO RAIN, found this covered bridge that we didn't even know was in our area

Bob-

The bottom photo reminds me of the (former) one room schoolhouse that I was living in when I married Diana. We moved out after 3 months; not enough room for her stuff & my stuff....in those days (1973) we had 9 (elderly) cars; 8 of mine and one of hers; whichver car started is the one that we drove...

We have had upwards of five inches of rain since last Saturday, there was a lull in the rain yesterday, so I was able to get the lawn mowed before I had to ask a farmer friend to use his mowing machine........  We ended up having Thunder storms last evening, and today it has been rainless, but again, strong thunder storms are possible.  To make a long story short, Cooper and I took advantage of no rain today and went for a ride in the "Wayback Machine"

Great pictures Bob, love your country side.  We have some bridges also, but no one ever takes pictures of them. Gas is still $3.78 in SD, I'm sure as soon as they hear prices are higher out there they will raise them here too.

Pat,

Thanks for the comment.  Glad you had the '36 out on Friday :)  I filled the Plymouth up this morning at 4.11.9 a gallon :(

Cool photos, Bob,

We have a covered bridge about 30 miles from us, but I don't get over that way too often. Took the '36 for a 10 mile spin on Friday; gas is over 4 bucks a gallon now.

No such luck here today, we have had strong thunderstorms along with an inch and two tenths of rain since 5am. All totaled we have had four inches plus of rain this week.  All that considered, we are still very lucky compared to Alabama and Georgia this morning

Cooper and I were out and about this past weekend, my niece "doctered" these two photos I took, just had to share, plus I added one that I took by the water falls.

No old car driving weather since, very foggy and lots of rain, not to mention abnormal temps for this time of year
  •

MRR41 COUPE

Hope you get a nice spring weekend for driving, maybe more trees will be in buds.
  •

We had over 70 deg. F on Sunday, today we had only 55. Too cold for convertible. As no rain and sunshine, today I made my trips in Peugeot 504 4dr. from 1978. Doesn?t get  out of the garage so much times, so I took the chance

Greetings and hoping for sun everywhere. Go .

Pat,

Glad that you were able to get the '36 out for a spin yesterday,  Cooper and I put a few miles on the "Wayback Machine" yesterday also before the rain arrived in the evening.

Today it is very windy with temps in the low 50's with light drizzle, suppose to have a nice Thursday and Friday, but time will tell

Hey Bob,

Our Spring has been very similar to yours; we probably get our weather a day or two before you. Took the '36 for a 10 mile ride today, life is good.

Believe it or not, these photos are in Spring time here in the Catskills.  It has been a very cold wet Spring so far, the lilac trees are begiinning to bud as are the soft maples, but that is about it  Yesterday we had temps in the upper 70's, today back down in the 50's. overcast and windy

Sorry to hear about your Mom, I lost my Mother at age 55 to colon cancer 26 years ago this June

I always thoroughly enjoy your photos Bob but I have not been on any forums lately due to losing my mom in late March.  :'( I'm focused on getting our old homestead cleaned out now. Keep those photos coming though Bob...they are enjoyed by tons of Plym. fans...We have no idea of how many people we touch with them.

Took a 150 mile jaunt today and went by Delta Lake near Rome, NY.  the lake was originally impounded to provide water for regulation of the Erie Canal.  The original dam has been rebuilt a couple time last in the 20's or 30's, guessing the ridge over the outlet is from the same time.
