Thanks Tod,

Just mounted a bearing with only one seal (onto the clutch side) so the oil can not drip into that direction.
sealed al the bolts and put the gearbox back into the car. What a nice little gearbox  ;)   just four bolts and ready .

If I entered the information from the 1936-48 parts book correctly, then you are looking for Chrysler part 619167 which NAPA Online claims it equivalent to their BRG 6207ZNRJ. See: http://www.ply33.com/Parts/group21#21-09-05

From the illustration on the NAPA web site, it looks like it is a ball bearing with no shield or seal. I guess that is what you are concerned about. I'm not sure how gear lube is supposed to be kept from migrating up the input shaft and getting into the clutch and flywheel housing, but I suspect that the close fit of the input shaft to its housing has something to do with it.

hello all,

I removed the transmission of my P9 because it was leaking oil badly....... so when i checked the drive pinion bearing with the bearing pictured in the shop manual i noticed that it has to be a closed bearing (with seal) .. am i right ? its part number 33  of the transmission on page 124 of the plymouth shop manual .    Its now an open bearing so the oil can go through it and drips on the clutch etc etc...

I like to have some advice,

thanks Paul
