Thanks Lee, Yes, I would like to see what you have for for a jack, and what others jacks are around. Curiousity more than anything else. lol I pulled the fenders off the 29 to get them ready for paint, hopefully get some paint on the car with-in the next month. lol

Did anybody out there have a jack like this one? OR know if this is the right Jack?
I would like to have an idea if I'm close to original..
Thanks,
Glenn

I have that same exact jack. I bought it at a swap meet for $5.  I thought it looked like the right jack for my 37 Plymouth, which didn?t have a jack when I bought it. When I got home, I found a picture of it in the owner?s manual.  You are correct when you call it a bumper jack. The owners? manual shows it on the bumper brace to raise the car.

The car is in winter storage, or I would scan the picture in the owner?s manual and post it.  Attached is a picture of the tools section of a manual, showing the jack.  It doesn?t go as far back as your car, but it shows some of the jacks for later years.  I didn?t scan this picture, I saved it some time ago from the P15/D24 site. John, The 1st picture is the jack, seems to be just a normal bottle jack, but it seems to be fully in the lower position.. I called it a bumper jack because it will not fix under the car, but works well under the bumper. There is a notch on the top that fit the bumper supports for jacking.  The jack handle turns extremely easy. the 2d and 3rd pictures are "in use" under the bumper. Any body out there have an original jack, I would like to know if this is right for the 29 model.
Thanks,
Glenn

Hi all,  Rusty and I got together today to repair the tire on my 29 Plymouth Coupe, with the wooden spoked wheels. Rusty brought his Tire Changing tool with him. We took the rim apart without using the tire tool, a pair of pliers and a screw driver is all that was needed. Rusty suggested that maybe I have a diferent set of rims than is normal on a 29 model. We did try out the tire changer to see what diference it would make to use the tool, and it may (or may not) be  easier with the tool. We determined it maybe takes 2 people to do this without the tool, where one person could do it easier with the tool.  We found that I have what is probably the original jack for the 29 model, we tryed it out and it works (probably the original bumper jack) We were not sure about the crank, it might or not be original, it does fit the engine though. Rusty thought the carberator on this car might not be the original, it is a cast iron carb with a filter on it that looks like the kind you wash out and then re-oil the mesh filter.OH, by the way, the valve stem was tore loose on the tube. lol. Thanks guys,
Glenn

Bob,

Good to hear from you. I'm assuming that your post about tire changing means that you have electric power. Are you dug out from the snowstorm?

Hey Jim,
Thanks, we have it. I printed out the instructions on how to use the tire changer and Rusty and I are going to try it out Saturday morning.  Thanks,

Glenn - there was an article on this subject in one of the past Plymouth Bulletins.  I'll see if I can find it for you...

Gentlemen, I have a bit of a quandrary.  How do you change the  tire on the 1929 model. The Rim splits and then what?  I was talking to Rusty and he was good enough to offer me his tire changer. At the time I didn't know there was such a thing, or that a person would need one. Any luck with changing the tire without a Tire Changer?? Rusty said he has never used it before either...  I would like to try it without a tire changer, just for the challenge I guess. lol Any help would be appreciated..
