Thanks to all for the great info.  It is my understanding that the screw type is #8 with a # 6 head.  I have found a source.., just getting the length sizes together before I order the correct screws.  You see that positive reinforcement goes a long way to modifying behavior.  Normally I would just accept what the local hardware store had available.  I guess if you are going to spend 30 cents for a screw it might just as well be the correct screw for the task at hand.

Cheers, Chet...  an old dog learning new tricks.

The 1936-48 parts book illustration has an illustration clearly showing a Phillips head for the "Door Window Garnish Moulding Screw". Looking at the part numbers, it looks like 1937 used low (pre-1933 numbers) for their parts but the 1938 and up used higher part numbers. So I'd guess that 1938 might be the transition year.

The very first car to use Phillips screws was the 36 LaSalle.   I know my 37 had slots  and my 40 has phillips.  The 48 certainly has phillips screws.

They are Phillips. In my '38 Chyrlser they are slotted and I am not sure when they switched over but I believe it was probably '39 or '40. Your '48 will definitely have the Phillips.

For what it's worth my 41 has phillips head screws inside but it's been restored...Maybe if you get enough replies you can get a good idea what is right. Someone has to have an original in their garage. I'll ask around for you.

In the 1948 P15, the interior screws that affix the interior trim were they slotted or Phillips ?  it has been so long since I removed these items I don?t remember the screw types ?

Tks Chet...
