I am assuming it is the bowl gasket you wish to change.   If you have a spare gasket , soak it in hot water to soften it up.  Thickness is not critical.

If it is the base gasket, the thicker the better but make sure the notch (es) for the power valve port line up. Turn the carb upside down and you will see it.

  Carb kits are relatively cheap  about $20,  101 A is the "Standard"tm   number and it will have all the gaskets you need . You may wish to change the needle and seat and check the float level. Also check the float for leaks.   dp

Beautiful weather - I did all my afternoon off home and practice duties in Plymouth.
Carb is leaking - do You smell? Wanted to change the gasket beside my house, but:

I have 2 spare gaskests in my boxes, one is .02 inches, the other is .03 inches thick (of rebuild set).
As far as I could check the mounted gasket (without taking the hot air filter off)
my calliper seems to show .04 inches .  As I fear a little warp on the unit after all these years,
I would prefer to compensate by a new .04 inches gasket, home punched.

Is thickness critical ?  Any experience?
