wanted: 56 plymouth trans. shifter cable- leads?

just in case the only reason you need to change this cable is because it leaks oil, here is the quick fix:  undo the cable at the dashboard end and slip a lengrh of fuel line hose over it all the way down to the transmission and  long enough so the upper end is higher than the fluid level in the transmission.  Put a hose clamp at the lower end.  No more leak.   dp

need transmission shifter cable for 56 plymouth V8, with automatic transmission.
Anyone have a parts interchange book so I can learn what other years and what other brands (dodge, desoto?, etc) will fit?
