A resent issue of the "Old Cars Price Guide" lists the following values for a '39 Plym 4dr sdn;
#6) Parts Car: 440.. #5) Restorable: 1,320.. #4) Good: 2,200.. #1) Excellent: 11,000..

Your have stated that your car is in "rough condition but the engine will run" with no added comments about if it is drivable, this would lead a person to believe that the car is in category somewhere between a #6 and a #5.
In the real world of today you might be hard pressed to get scrap price out of it, that being $300., or less.

I walked away from a really nice looking, running, driving '39 Plym P8 2dr sdn last year that I could have had for $1,800... The car was a very old amateurish restoration that had many rusted out areas in the trunk tail pan, fenders, quarter panels and rockers, all of which had been "Bondo'd" over and was now all blistered up. The rust-out was so bad, that the tail lights had fallen through the fender opening.

There you have it.... Probably not what you wanted to hear, but at least you have a guide line to start from....Bill

Two good places to get base prices are the NADA website and Hemmings Motor News.

Don't get your hopes up too high, these cars have nothing that would put a premium on their price.

Most people looking for cars of this era want fords, chevies and two door coupes which makes our cars more affordable to buy but not a great investment to re-sell.
