After considerable discussion with Darrell Davis, a POC member who has done some VERY extensive research on them, I must admit a mistake on my part on 413 engines in '61 Plymouths.? They were listed as an option by the Chrysler Corporation and thus became eligible for racing purposes, but it seems as though none were ever available off the production lines.? Thus for NASCAR, USAC, and NHRA purposes, they were probably "Dealer Installed" options -- kinda "fudging" the around the production line issue.?
Incidentally, both Richard and Lee Petty raced 413 Plymouths on the NASCAR circuit and both were almost killed on the same track within a few minutes of each other.? The Ramchargers approached Plymouth to sponsor their 1961 NHRA campaign, but Plymouth didn't think drag racing was in the division's image.? However, Dodge did so "Ramcharger" became a Dodge logo and not Plymouth's.

PS, "Mea Culpa" on the production of '61 413 Plymouths.
