I would swap in a 318 and automatic from a 70s or 80s Chrysler product and the rear axle from the mid 60s. An upgrade of the front brakes would be in order too.?

If you are going to try to upgrade the power plant in your car you should consider Pollock's suggestion. The late model 318's and auto trans would be more reliable, friendly to modern fuels and not involve any additional work. The best way to accomplish the swap would be to have the complete Chrysler/Dodge that the engine is coming from.

In the long run the best solution to an underpowered car is to sell it and buy a car that has the power you feel you need. Your wallet won't suffer quite as much of a draining...Bill

I'm answering late Virge, but what did you wind up doing?
The poly engine is a good gutsy engine and as far as transplanting it to your car, it's not all that hard.
Let me know the update.
Life is what you make of it.

What you are proposing is not impossible, however, be warned,  it is not a bolt for bolt swap. The V8 cars use different steering linkage, and the rear crossmember may be in a different location. If you are truly going to succeed, get the rest of the car that the Poly came out of so you have all the appropriate bits and pieces.   Frankly, if it were my projec,t I would swap in a 318 and automatic from a 70s or 80s Chrysler product and the rear axle from the mid 60s. An upgrade of the front brakes would be in order too.  I do not have any trouble on US and Canadian freeways with my 6 cylinder Plymouths, are you sure yours is "up to speed"?

I might suggest that you post this same question on the p15-d24 website
