numbers matching?

I hope this helps.  In my '69 Roadrunner manual it has an example of identification numbers for all '68  engines.   The  serial number is located on the left side, rear of block, near oil pan flange.
The first two digits  are the plant code
next three are engine displacement
next four are date code
next four are serial number.  a sequential number starting with 0001 for each days production.

Hey Mopar lovers! I have an inquiry. My 68 roadrunner has 383HP stamped on the bottom and on the front near the dist. if I'm not mistaken. I've been told the early years have numbers that don't always follow the vin code. I have an early one.
I wanna know if the numbers always match, which numbers and where are they. I have always wanted to prove it is the original motor. I've had it for 25 years, I didn't change it. HELP!
