Mvair thanks for the info. I looked at them today and they are in great shape, at least the metal. I have no rust but also no rubber. I dont want to sound cheap but, 500 to 600 dollars seems a bit high for the board to be finished. I guess if thats the going rate then i'll have to pay it. I have a long way to go before I get them done. Those will have to go on the back burner. Thanks

I needed both of the running board trim pieces for my car. I put the word out to every parts person I know and kept calling them back every few months. Over the period of about 5 years I was able to get both pieces NOS. I also found all of the clips. I think the last trim piece I got was from Ed Spiegel. I don't know if many of these are available from most used parts suppliers as they often seem to have gone missing. I have seen some parts cars for sale that had them still attached.  Buying an entire care for the running board moulding may be a little extreme. I guess my main point is, your parts are out there somewhere. Just enjoy the search.

The rubber is vulcanized to the metal running board. It is not a coveing that is glued on. It is more like icing on a cake that sets up and permanently adheres to the metail board. The surface pattern is created by the mould.

Is it possible to buy just the rubber? I havent started on them yet, they are in storage. Were they covered in rubber originally or did they have a rubber top? Thanks

I'm excited to hear that the boards don't come back with holes... one of my running board trims was MIA (replaced with a piece of 90 degree aluminum) and the other is beaten flat.  This mean I can get these boards without looking like I'm "missing something"

By the way, is there any source for running board trim????  I have a 41 wagon,.. .not sure if the board length changed between models.  Thanks!!!

By the looks of the picture, Mr.  Acuff does not put in the holes either. I highly recommend Buckeye Rubber, they did mine and they look great, I thanferred my mounting holes from a  pattern made off my old boards.

I think Acuff is retired now.

Buckeye Rubber parts did mine for 525.00 I bought his new boards already covered  which seemed like the way to go at the time meaning I did not have to remove the rubber and rust from mine and ship them to him. It was a big mistake since his new ones have no mounting holes and locating the holes and fitting them was absolute hell.

Attached is a picture of mine done by Mr. Acuff.  I also have some pictures of how I removed the old rubber with ease.

I must agree with Jim B.
Hunley is the master of runningboards and such.
If you need his phone number, email me or look in older issues of the POC.
He is a man of few words on the phone, and in person, but he gets the job done right the first time.

Hunley Acuff, Rossville, Georgia will remold the rubber to your old boards.  Beautiful work, but expensive - but you get what you pay for.

Can someone please tell me where I can get the correct rubber for my running boards, I have a 1941 P12. I first placed an order with ROBERTS, but when it came in it was just a roll of rubber that I have to cut out the step myself. I sent it back. I want one that just fits right in.? So I am still looking.

Thanks
