Ok,

I had my Valiant all ready to run - I took a shortcut as I was putting it together - i decided to use the 170 from my parts car - as is - till I could get the original 225 slant six rebuilt.  Well I drove the Valiant for the first time a week and a half ago to get it aligned.  I decided to take the steep hill on the way back, well it started to thump and make some not too good noise on the way up the hill. Bottom line is the 170 is out of the car now and I brought the 225 to a local shop to rebuild.  As I was un-loading it, the owner noticed that there was body putty on the block - he scraped it off and it was rusty underneath.  He magnafluxed it and there is a small hairline crack in the water jacket.  So, I need another block - I want a 225 from 1964-1966 but could use a block from 1967 -  a1975 if there is one closer.  I can use my crank (small flange) with the newer block.

Anyone got a 225 near Northern Minnesota they want to get rid of?

If I have to pay a lot to get it, I am just going to go with a rebuilt from one of the on-line re-builders - paying shipping it may as well be for a finished product.

Anyone ever deal with United Engines in California - they are the lowest price I have found - there is one on eBay right now to from an outfit in Spokane WA that looks good.
