Starter switch

If memory serves me, the 29 uses a bendix drive starter so the foot switch closes only electrical contacts, just as on my 28 Chrysler.   A good auto electric supply shop can provide a replacement switch which will do the job for you.  Look for someone with a Cole Hersee catalogue.

Is it the switch or the linkage? There is a switch for sale on e-bay, buy it now. Item #280147660005. the whole system is pretty simple, could be all you need is a good clean up of the contacts inside the switch. They are brass and tend to corode. Bill James

There's not much to them.... can  you open it up and probably fix the one you have?

this may not be the case with your car, but I had the same problem last summer with my 1940 Plymouth, I had my wife push the starter pedal while I was looking under the hood.  I found that my front motor mount was bad,  causing the engine to tilt forward, once I replaced that, the starter pedal worked just fine.

I was going to start up my 1929 4door and it would not turn over. I found the starter switch (the starter button on the floor) not making conntact. Does anyone know where I could purchase one of these or does anyone have one they would be willing to part with.
