Split nut on the exhaust manifold

Depending on which nut it is, a nut splitter from Eastwood or Harbor Freight might do the job.  Somtimes clearance to get the tool on the nut is a problem.

I have had good success using a small rotary tool (Dremel) with a cutting wheel you need to keep checking and you can cut it with none or little damage that can be cleaned up with a chase nut.

Have you tried a 6 point socket? If you haven't, try to get a Sbap-On 6 point with their "flank drive". These work really well on rounded nuts.

try a metric size socket , it might just fit.

I am using Kroil and it is working great. these nuts are 9/16..and there is one that is a little split,in that a 9/16 box will not fit on the nut...any thoughts?...I don't want to damage the threads under/in this nut,and don't have the torch skills etc....as always I appreciate this gold mine of info...Dennis
