I believe the oil bath was standard on the P10 and optional on the P9 which had a dry element filter.

Just above the idle circuit -- follow the casting up through the body to the lid--- you will find what should be a very small hole which lets air into the idle circuit.  Look down through the area where the choke butterfly is. This hole is a different size on some carbs and if there has been any mixing and matching of lids, there might be your idle problem. Learned that in the school of hard knocks.

I have what I thought to be an original "oil bath" type air cleaner, until a recent Florida chapter POC organizational meeting, where I saw an original P-10 with a different configuration. It had a partially exposed element on the back side which allows for a much different air flow into the carb. Since I have been having some idling problems, even with carb overhaul etc. Does anyone know of the proper config.
