Another option might be Darrell Hagen at Hagen Auto parts in Puyallup, WA. They do complete engines, a lot of old cars stuff, including babbit work. aLast time I was there the had a 198 Cadillac on the test bench that had just been done. Sorry I don't have his # handy but information will get it for you. I have also had work done by EGGE, (old pump rebuid) good people and great work.

Jay  another option is ,  any good  engine reconditioner should be able to machine your engine to take modern shell bearings, it wont be cheap but proberbly not much more than the cost of rebabbiting,  once it is done you should have no more worrys

Jay,

I meant to say semi-close undersize, not oversize.

Jay,

Rod and main bearings can be re-babbitted.  Don't know about 28, but my 32 has the insert main
bearings.  These are extremely scarce if they exist at all, but you can have your shells re-babbitted
to a semi-close oversized diameter and then have them line-bored.  Go ahead and grind the crank too.
This will give you a custom job that will be excellent.  Be careful when installing mains and note the
way the oil holes line up to feed the wrist pins.  As far as rods, just get them babbitted and order them
to exact tolerance needed.  Egge can probably supply everything else.  They might do the babbitting too, but I doubt it.  The "Babbitt Pot" if he's still in business did a nice job on mine - will cost you
several hundred bucks.  If you need cam bearings, you'll probably have to have them made - bronze
works well.

I beleive you can purchase anything you need for your motor through Egge Machine Co. 11707 Slauson Avenue Santa Fe Springs, Ca 90670.   In the paper work from there, it states:  Ask us about our complete engine kit....telephone 800-866-egge or 310-945-3419.  Hope this helps. That is where all the parts for the motor of my 1940 Plymouth business coupe  came from.  Ping

I have just started on a project and my engine is knocking. I have an option of buying another engine but its quite a ways away. Are the parts and kits to rebuild an engine accessible? or are they hard to find?
