Replacement for wheel well?

I guess I misunderstood Carmen's request for a spare tire well. I thought he was looking for a side mount tire well in lieu of a trunk spare tire well.

I spent TWO DAYS in late October, 2007 roaming Moore's. Without a doubt, they have the largest collection of 1930/40 Chrysler vehicles I have ever seen. They are great people to do business with. As I have reported in my '39 Plym Conv. Coupe topic, a significant amount of the body parts I needed for my  car came from Moore's. When I was there in October I spent over $4,000 buying parts for my projects and a couple of friends.

Give Moore's Salvage Yard in Rapid City,SD a call at 605-348-4926.

They have a great amount of Chrysler product vehicles there.

Depending the condition of some of their '41 Plymouths, they might be able to cut out the spare tire wheel well and send it to you. 

Sure worth the call to ask.

They are great people, and I had the chance to meet them out there in May of "00 when I was out there visiting my son who was stationed a Ellsworth AFB

Great picture, BUT! My 1941 Plymouth has the spare tire in the truck. I have taken a picture of it and will post when I get home tonight.

I will do some checking into having wells made... in the mean time I have attached a picture of one of my '39 fenders showing the fender mount well and brackets....Bill

I am pretty sure that they used the same tire? Anyway it couldn't hurt to get a price from him. It seems that is the area that always needs to be replaced. Let me know.

I have a set of fenders, L/R for a '39 Plym which have the fender mount wells. I bought them thinking I would use them on my '39 Conv... I have to date changed my mind.
I would imagine that the well for a '39 is very similar to a '40/41. I know a metal man that has the equipment and talent to make a new well (s) using mine as a template.

If you would like me to check into the matter of having him make up some wells I will....Bill

I am assuming that you are referring to the spare tire well.   Most of these are similar in shape no matter what make of car. It may be possible to find a good well which can be removed then fitted into the body of your car, but a good bodyman or sheet metal shop may be able to fabricate a patch panel.

I have a 1941 Plymouth P11 - the wheel well has rotten away. Is there a patch panel for just the well itself? Can I patch in part of it from another model? Does anyone have a parts car that they can cut it out?
