Door Lube Sticker? Dipstick reminder? or? 1940 Ply...

I have attached a photo of a SOHIO Protection Record. It is from May of 1939 to April of 1940
it has the following information:

I am not trying to be nit picking on what Jim wrote, just trying to expand the information a little.
I think the disposable paper type of lube record did not generally come into use until after WWII. A vast majority of the pre-war 'door jamb' lube records were made of metal that had a pressure sensitive glue on the back. The information that could be recorded there-on had spaces for brakes, spark plugs, air filter, wheel bearings and the usual lube/oil. As a general rule the lube record was attached to the door above the latch assembly, however, a variation was the door jamb "A" pillar.
Many vehicles in the 1930's/40's had vanity mirrors that attached to the interior visors. A common feature of the vanity mirrors was to have a place for service records and/or trip records to be written.

My '36 Ford which I have had for fifty-five years has a vanity mirror with places on the mirror for the recording of information. This was a Ford accessory. I also have a '40 Buick that has a lighted vanity mirrors... GM Buick ... with record spaces. I have not found either a door sticker or vanity mirror yet for my '39 Plym....Bill

Usually the service station or servicing dealer had a sticker that was placed in the door jamb.  The sticker typically carried the dealer/station name and probably a logo for the dealership or the brand of service station where the work was done.  Then there would be lines to write in the mileage for the various services performed such as oil change, air filter, oil filter, lube, etc.

 :)   I been trying to research what would of been put on a 1940 Plymouth passenger Car....  After a lube job was performed in 1940 would they of put a lube sticker on the door? or as I have seen some older stickers had a oil reminder on the dipstick or possible something I am not seeing... Thanks for letting me know and all the help I been getting along the way! Happy PLY-mouthing DANiel
