Stromberg Carburetor for a 1940 Plymouth?...

After production started up after WWII - Carter was unable to keep up with demand so some cars (P15's) were fitted with Stromberg's at the factory.  This was fairly short lived.  The Stromberg carb required a different fuel line, as it fed fuel from a different angle.  This Stromberg may be a replacement carb but to my knowledge it was used only on the P15's and nothing earlier.

If u put a Stromberg carb on, u will have trouble getting the aircleaner to seal.  I have a Stromberg on my PT 105 because that was what was avail at the time I needed a carb, but I used a rubber gasket from 2" sprinkler pipe to get a good seal.  My parts book does list a stomberg as well as a B&B, but maybe Jim B can tell u which was supposed to go with which.

 :)   I know a Carter B&B was used for my 1940 Plymouth 4 door sedan ......  But on eBay there is a new NOS Stromberg carburetor  eBay #  360001013824  on the box it states:  its for  this year  .. Does any one know if this is a better carburetor than the Carter B&B or any information on it ... Thanks for letting me know .... Happy Ply-mouthing DANiel
